Veterinary Lab Work in Payson
Filling in the Blanks with Laboratory Testing
At Payson Pet Care, we believe that comprehensive healthcare is essential to your pet’s happiness and longevity. When our veterinarians examine your pet during their routine wellness exams, we will often order lab tests to complete our examination. Lab work helps us get a sense of your pet’s overall health, inside and out. We use these tests as a part of our preventative medicine program to establish a baseline of health, so we’re able to identify deviations from their normal health down the line. Early detection is key to protecting your pet’s quality of life.
As an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited veterinary hospital, Payson Pet Care is fully equipped with an in-house laboratory to conduct many tests and receive results quickly. This helps us get your pet diagnosed and treated much faster than if we had to wait for results from an outside lab.
Lab Testing at Payson Pet Care
When you bring your pet in to see us, we’ll conduct a thorough examination of your pet from nose to tail. After our exam, we’ll order a variety of laboratory tests depending on your pet’s needs. Each of these tests tells us important information about their health that we wouldn’t otherwise learn from a straightforward physical exam. We’ll use this information to diagnose your pet if they’re feeling unwell, or help us identify signs that there could be issues down the line.
We are able to conduct the following laboratory tests:
- Blood chemistry analysis
- Coagulation profiles
- Complete blood count (CBC)
- Fecal analysis
- Heartworm testing
For more advanced testing, we may send samples to an outside laboratory. However, for most of the common tests, we are able to test your pet’s samples in house, enabling us to get results fast.
We use your pet’s lab tests to form a baseline of health to understand what your pet’s health looks like when they’re feeling normal. If your pet ever gets sick, we’ll order new tests to compare against the old ones to pinpoint what has changed and what could be causing your pet’s illness. Additionally, if your pet needs surgery, we’ll order a fresh set of laboratory tests to ensure your pet will not react negatively to general anesthesia.
One of the benefits of regular laboratory testing, in conjunction with your pet’s general wellness exams, is that our Payson veterinarians will be able to diagnose the onset of certain diseases much earlier than if we only tested your pet when they were sick. We’ll also use lab testing to track the progression of certain diseases and other developments in your pet’s health.
Your pet’s health is important to us. We’re here for you and your pet every step of the way!
